Sporting Hero Events Schedule

Eight of Australia's elite sports stars are on board to help you achieve your best as an athlete at the World Transplant Games.  Learn from their expert technique and training advice and meet these inspirational athletes at these exciting sporting clinics as part of the Sporting Hero Encouragement Program. 

This is only available for Transplant Australia members with specific focus on athletes competing in the World Transplant Games.  However, these events are not restricted and those wishing to participate are welcome. Please be aware these are physical clinics and you should be in good health if you wish to attend.  

Further information about the program and the Sporting Heroes will be uploaded in due course, so stay tuned.

Swimming Clinic

 Swimming Clinic Invite

Samantha Riley joins with Olympic coach Michael Bohl to help correct your swim stroke and training at a junior and senior swimming clinic.

When: Sunday, 5 April 2009 @ 9am to 11am (arrive by 8:45am)
Where: Sam Riley's new swim school, Mt Gravatt Aquatic Centre, Mt Gravatt East Primary School, Brisbane. The pool is 25 meter outdoor climate controlled.
What: Meet Sam and Michael and improve your swimming and training techniques
RSVP: Sunday 29 March 2009. Include the events you are competing in the games and/or how often you swim.

Rowing Clinic

Gold Medal duo Duncan Free and Drew Ginn provide hands-on technique advice for rowing.

When: Friday, 24 April 2009 @ 7am to 10:30am
Where: Mercantile Rowing Club, Boathouse 5, Boathouse Drive, Melbourne.
What: Meet Duncan and Drew and improve your rowing by joining them on the Yarra. Eight man boats provided.
RSVP: Thursday 16 April 2009.  Include how often you row and previous experience in a boat.

 

Golf Clinic

Charlie Earp shares his years of pro golf experience with you along with video critque by Mark Gibson to sharpen your technique

When: Thursday 21 May 2009 @ 1pm
Where: Driving range, Royal Pines Golf Course, Gold Coast
What: Bring your clubs and wear your golf attire for a driving and chipping clinic, including a video critique on how you can improve your swing

Group Fitness and Motivation Sessions including Volleyball Clinic - Date Change to be confirmed

The new directors of Live2xcel, Shelley Oates-Wilding and Kerri Pottharst provide an ultimate fitness session.
Shelley will be holding three training sessions to keep you on track for the Games.


Session one (including Volleyball Clinic with Kerri Pottharst)

When:  TBC 9am
Where: Manly Beach, Sydney
What: Join Shelley for a group fitness clinic on the sands at Manly beach or spend the morning with Kerri Pottharst learning Beach Volleyball. Afterwards, this dynamic duo will treat you to a professional motivational talk.
RSVP: Monday 4 May 2009 (please nominate if you will be attending the Volleyball session)

Session Two
The second fitness clinic with Shelley will keep you on track.

When: TBC 9am
Where: Manly Beach, Sydney
What: Join Shelley for a group fitness clinic on the sands at Manly beach

Session Three
This last clinic will gauge your improvement.

Cycling Clinic

Cycle around an enclosed track in Melbourne with Lorian Graham and learn light and efficient riding.

When: Sunday 31 May 2009 @ 9:30am
Where: Melbourne location to be confirmed
What: Bring your bike, helmet and some stamina. Lorian will take you through training and riding techniques.
RSVP:  Sunday 17 May 2009. Include how often you cycle and how far, your experience on the bike and if you have competed before.
 

Beach Volleyball Clinic

Join Natalie Cook at her Sandstorm Volleyball courts and learn some formatable skills for beach volleyball.
