VIC / TAS Branch

The Transplant Australia Victoria / Tasmania branch has members from all corners of Victoria and Tasmania.

TA VIC/TAS hold various functions during the year for its members and friends. These include an annual Dinner Dance, State Championship Ten Pin Bowling with trophies for men, women and children transplant recipients or dialysis patients, a weekend sporting and social camp, and a Christmas function. Other activities vary each year these have included picnics, gourmet food trail, car rally, bike rides, mini golf, mazes, trivia nights. The more regular come and try sport days may include tennis, table tennis, golf, petanque and swimming. These functions are held in country locations as well as the metropolitan area to allow for more member participation.

Camps are held occasionally such as the one in Port Sorell, Tasmania in 2006. More activities will be offered in Tasmania as their membership grows.

The Victoria / Tasmania committee has a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and committee members representing country areas and Tasmania, newsletter editor and general members, including a junior representative, a living donor and donor family representative. The group meets when a function is held and at other times throughout the year. Members, their family and friends are encouraged to attend each function. We have lots of fun, gain new skills and meet people who have had similar experiences. Almost all functions are subsidised. Everyone is welcome.

Fundraising activities vary from year to year, but usually include a raffle.

A state newsletter, which is published approximately 10 times per year, is forwarded to members by email or post. The newsletter is a way of contact for those who are unable to attend meetings or special events to keep in touch with branch activities. Articles are always welcome.

Membership fees: $15 Individual, $25 a family.

Living Donors and Family Members of Deceased Donors have honorary membership.

The transplant recipient spouse of a living donor has a membership fee of $10.00.
