The Living Donor Branch of Transplant Australia welcomes membership and participation of all living donors; for those who have given the gift of life and those who are about to.
We strive to raise community awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation and invite living donors to attend regular branch meetings, come and try days, social and recreational events and sporting activity days.
The Living Donors are invited to attend and compete in the supporter events of the Australian Transplant Games and medal presentation ceremonies. The Gala Dinner, held at the end of the Australian Transplant Games is a time for living donors to join with family members of deceased donors, transplant recipients, family and friends to celebrate life and the achievements of those who have participated in the Games.
Each state branch holds special events in recognition of the gifts of life and sight; these include the annual Thanksgiving Services, Tree Planting Ceremonies, Rose Planting Ceremonies, Memorial Garden Service and Miracle Dinner.
We offer a caring support network of people who have had similar experiences; education on organ and tissue donation and transplantation; joint living donor and donor family newsletters; and other information as requested.
Living Donors often accept public speaking roles at schools, church groups, clubs or special services or potential living donors.
As part of the group of Donor Families, Living Donors have been involved in the process of giving an organ or bone marrow to help another either improving the quality of or saving a life.
Living Donors have honorary membership but all donations are graciously accepted
