National Games Geelong September 2006
I went all the way to Geelong to find two guys that live in the Penrith area so that made four of us down there.
The games were really great. I did sports I could do and sports that I have never tried before or that I was not too good at, you just try your best and have a go. I saw people I met at the last Games. I even got to spend time with a couple I met from the USA last time and they invited me to go over to the States and stay with them. You meet and make new life time friends at the games.
Activities/events I did: Petanque Open, Eight Ball, Archery Open, Badminton, Tenpin Bowling, Golf, Shot Putt, Ball Throw, Discus, Swimming and Swimming relay.
Miriam Won 2 Gold, 1 Silver
Her sports were Swimming, 1 Gold-Tenpin Bowling, 1 Gold & 1 Silver in Athletics.
I won 9 medals, 4 Gold & 5 Silver.
Gold, Archery Open (first time sport never done before, score 571 out of 720)
Gold, Badminton Doubles (Juniors), Ball throw, Shot Putt Junior
Silver, Tenpin Bowling (Junior) Singles, Badminton (Junior) Singles, Golf Juniors,
50m Swimming Juniors, 4 x 50m Swimming Relay NSW Open Team
My best achievement would have to be Archery as I was just giving it a go. It was an open age and the man that came 3rd did this as a sport and a new friend from SA came 2nd and I came 1st. I thought as it was open I would have no hope. Robin Hood eat your heart out!
Have you wanted your Son or Daughter to wear the green and gold and Represent Australia, well now they can and you won't have to go overseas to do it. At the WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES in Queensland on the Gold Coast in 2009.
You need to be part of the New South Wales State team at the next National games and then maybe get selected into the Australia Team. {Other selection methods are possible but difficult}.
We are now working to get Juniors to the next National Games in Perth in 2008. If you (or your parents) would like to be on the Junior committee to help please let me know. I can't do it all on my own. We would like to see more juniors we have 80 on our books. Also we need to work on the world games so let's pull together and raise some funds for the NSW kids.
