Margaret Gregg - A kidney for my son

This is the story of a mother who donated a kidney to her son

When my son Rohan first went on Dialysis on Melbourne Cup Day 1982, he was asked if anyone in the family would be interested in donating a kidney.

I volunteered to have all the tests and was found to be compatible.

We had the operation on 9th August 1983 at Prince Henry Hospital, Melbourne.

Rohan still has my kidney, and I have not suffered any ill effects at all. I still play competition tennis, golf, and table tennis and help run a family electrical contracting and retailing business. I was almost forty-five years old and Rohan was 21 at the time of the operation. Rohan is the oldest of my four boys who are all now married.
