 Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society
The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society was formed in 1975 to foster and promote all aspects of intensive care medicine within our two countries. This website is primarily intended as a resource for members of the Society, however also contains general information about the Society, it's functions and the specialty of intensive care medicine.

Australian National Liver Transplant Unit
The Liver Transplant Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital was opened in 1986. Since then the Unit has performed approximately 560 transplants. Over 1500 liver transplants have been performed altogether in Australia. Our aim is to inform you about liver transplantation, so that you can make decisions about your treatment based on a good knowledge of the procedures, benefits and risks of liver transplantation.

Australian Red Cross Blood Service - LifeLink
LifeLink is responsible for the coordination of all organ donations in NSW and ACT. This website offers donor families, organ recipients, individuals on the organ transplant registry, health professionals and the general public, the ability to access information to better understand the system and processes of organ donation and transplantation.

Australians Donate
Australians Donate Inc is a non-profit incorporated association comprising organisations involved in organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Members include state government-funded organ donation agencies, independent tissue and eye banks, community groups, clinicians, policy-makers, academics and ethicists. As the peak body for the organ and tissue donation and transplantation sector, Australians Donate is funded by State and Commonwealth governments, overseen by a management board and administered by a small secretariat. There is also a national association from which the management board can seek advice on relevant issues.

Australian Organ Donor Registry
The Australian Organ Donor Register was launched on 12 November 2000. It started after consultation with the Department of Health and Ageing, and representatives from the organ donation network, including Australians Donate, Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society, Australian Kidney Foundation, Victorian Organ Donor Register and other state-based donation agencies.

Donate West
DonateWest is the statewide agency that promotes organ and tissue donation across Western Australia. DonateWest became fully operational in July 2000, and is funded by the Department of Health, Western Australia. It works with all hospitals within WA and liaises with hospitals and agencies interstate.

Heart Kids Victoria

Vision - "To make a difference in the lives of all children with heart conditions" The mission of Heartkids Victoria Inc. is: To meet the needs of children and young adults with a congenital or childhood acquired heart disease, by providing non-medical understanding, support and information to them and their families. To raise community awareness in order to reach other families and encourage the community to be more understanding of the needs of those affected by heart conditions. To raise funds that will increase parent and patient comfort at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne and at other hospitals where cardiac children are treated. To raise funds for paediatric cardiac research at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, in the hope that more children with heart defects survive and lead an improved quality of life.

Kidney Health Australia
Founded in 1968, the Kidney Health Australia, formerly Australian Kidney Foundation's mission is to be recognised as the leading non-profit national organisation providing funding for, and taking the initiative in, the prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases.

LIFEGift - Victorian Organ Donation Service
LIFEGift is the organ donation agency that organises and coordinates all aspects of the organ and tissue donation process within Victoria and Tasmania. Managed by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, (Link Here) LIFEGift works with hospitals throughout Victoria and Tasmania to organise the donation and retrieval of organs and tissue for transplantation

New Zealand Liver Transplant Recipients
This website is for the use of New Zealand Liver Transplant recipients, to share their stories and experiences, and foster an awareness within the community at large of the life-saving benefits of receiving an organ.

New Zealand Liver Transplant Unit
The liver transplant unit at Auckland Hospital came about through the diligence and foresight of a group of physicians, nurses, surgeons and administrators working towards the common goal of providing excellent transplant services to New Zealanders within their own land. The philosophy of service provision for the unit has thus grown not out of a sense of obligation, thereby being an onerous chore, rather our view is that we anticipate this duty to our fellow New Zealanders with a sense of great satisfaction. Our mission is thus the provision of excellent transplant services for sufferers of end stage liver disease in an environment where it is a pleasure for us to work and a pleasure for patients to receive treatment .

New Zealand Organ Donation
The Transplant Donor Co-ordination service began in 1987 with the commencement of heart transplantation at Green Lane Hospital. Today, this national service facilitates the retrieval of hearts, livers, kidneys, lungs, pancreas', bone, corneas and heart valves.

Organ Donors Association Inc.

Contains information on organ donation and some discussion of challenges for organ donation. This is a non-profit voluntary Association responsible for the compilation of many reports over the past eight years to Governments (backed by intense research over more than 20 countries) in Australia and overseas.

Queenslanders Donate
Queenslanders Donate is a division of Queensland Health and aims to provide a structured and consistent approach to organ and tissue donation, aimed at ensuring the key elements of Australians Donate (the National Program established by the Australian Health Ministers - AHMAC) are met in Queensland. Queenslanders Donate has been developed following wide consultation with experts in the field of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The program combines the strengths of other organ/tissue donation models but takes into account the vast geographical area of the State.

Renal Resource Centre
The Centre provides renal patients with information and educational material to assist them in managing the effects of renal disease on their lifestyle. The Renal Resource Centre is a community health service of Northern Sydney Health.

South Australian Liver Transplant Unit
Based at Flinders Medical Centre, the South Australian (SA) Liver Transplant Unit was established in 1992. The Centre brings together staff from academic and clinical backgrounds in medical, surgical, scientific, nursing and allied health to work towards better patient care through an integrated approach to digestive health.

South Australian Organ Donation Agency
The SA Organ Donation Agency is a division of the SA Department of Human Services. The aim is to increase the number of organ donations in SA giving more people access to transplantation as a treatment for their organ failure.This site contains information about where to access grief support.

The Renal Society of Australia
Formed in 1972, the RSA is an Australasian society for nursing, medical, technical and allied health professionals, aiming for excellence in the dissemination of knowledge in Renal Replacement Therapies.

The TNA is committed to advancing opportunities to enable education, research and networking for nurses and allied health professionals involved in transplantation. The Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand has as members, scientists, doctors, transplant coordinators and research students with an interest in all forms of transplantation.

Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation

Zaidee Rose Alexander Turner, aged 7 years and 22 days died suddenly on 2nd December 2004 from a burst blood vessel in her brain called a Cerebral Aneurism. As a result Zaidee donated her organs and tissues at the Royal Children's Hospital, as were her wishes at the time. Zaidee was the only child in Victoria under the age of 16 years and one of the youngest Australians to donate her organs and tissues in 2004 and only I of 6 children nationally to donate their organs that year.

Belgium Transplantation Society
Aims: To stimulate the study of all matters related to transplantation of organs, tissues or cells by organising scientific meetings, etc. To be an organisation with whom the government or other organisation can discuss all transplantation issues.
International Transplant Coordinators Society
The ITCS is a society of transplant coordinators, both clinical and procurement coordinators, who provide a major portion of the infrastructure in which organ or tissue donation and transplantation occur. The ITCS was formed in order to create a structure that could respond to transplant coordination issues at international meetings, a structure similar to what the Transplantation Society provides for physicians, surgeons, immunologists and other related specialties

The Netherlands Transplant Society

The Organ Donation Act has been in force since 1998. All inhabitants of the Netherlands aged 12 and over can now register their wishes pertaining to organ and tissue donation in a central Donor Register. By filling in a donor form and sending it to the Donor Register, you can specify your wishes.

British Columbia Transplant Society

The British Columbia Transplant Society (BCTS), established in 1986, directs, delivers or contracts for all organ transplant services across BC. It is funded principally through the BC Ministry of Health Services, and is an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority. The BC Transplant Society's Foundation is an officially recognized charitable organization.

Canadian Transplant Association

The Canadian Transplant Association is a charitable organization that includes transplant athletes and others who are committed toidentifying and removing barriers to organ donation. The CTA encourages and motivates transplant recipients to maintain a healthy lifestyle by supporting athletic and other awareness events.

Children's Organ Transplant Assocation
Our mission is to ensure that no U.S. citizen is ever denied a life-saving transplant, or access to a transplant waiting list, due solely to the lack of funds. As a 501 (c) (3) national charity organization, COTA provides services to you that are 100% tax-deductible and at no cost to you.

Corneas

The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank (RMLEB) is a community based, charitable, nonprofit organization that crusades against blindness through sight restoring transplants and research into ways to overcome blindness. Due to the generosity of our donors and their families, RMLEB provides eye tissue for thousands of sight restoring transplants throughout the world each year. Our International Surgery Fund provides for sight- restoring transplants to the visually impaired who cannot afford it, in both the U.S. and throughout the world. Additionally, Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank maintains a support group for transplant recipients and those awaiting a transplant. Grief support is offered to families of eye donors.

Life Gift Organ Donation Center

LifeGift is a not-for-profit organ procurement organization dedicated to recovering tissue and organs for individuals in Texas. LifeGift staff members work with and help train hospital staff members on all aspects of donation, from the appropriate identification and timing for referrals of potential donors to the medical maintenance of the donor and the recovery operation. For families of donors, we provide information on the donation process, the placement of organs and progress of recipients, and the bereavement process.

National Kidney Foundation - USA

The National Kidney Foundation founded the National Donor Family Council (NDFC) in 1992 as a home for donor families. With over 10,000 donor family and professional members, the Council is the largest organized group of donor families in the world, representing donors of all organs and tissues (not just kidney).With the help of the National Kidney Foundation, The NDFC supports the needs and expectations of donor families and assists the healthcare professionals who work most closely with these families. The Council works collaboratively with organizations in the transplant, bereavement, and professional communities.

Second Wind Lung Transplant Association

Second Wind Lung Transplant Association, Inc. was formed on April 17, 1995, by a small group of people who wanted to provide information about lung transplantation to others. At that time lung transplantation was evolving from an experimental and rarely applied treatment to becoming a more common therapy for end-stage lung disease. The slogan "Support through Service" was adopted, as was our mission statement: To improve the quality of life for lung transplant recipients, lung surgery candidates, people with related pulmonary concerns and their families, by providing support, love, advocacy, education, information and guidance through a spirit of service, adding years to their lives and life to their years.

The Nicholas Green Foundation - supporting recipient children
The Nicholas Green Foundation, set up by the Green family, is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the cause of organ and tissue donation around the world. It does this by spreading information to increase awareness of the shortage of donors everywhere. It can also support a broad range of children's causes.

Transplant Awareness Inc
Transplant Awareness Inc. sells T-shirts , car license plate frames , pins , books and other items, which have slogans that promote organ and tissue donation. TAI is a nonprofit corporation run and operated by volunteers who are all organ transplant recipients. Our objective is to market products that will promote organ donation by increasing awareness among the general population. It is our hope that TAI's efforts will result in more organs being donated and more lives being saved and prolonged in the manner that our lives were. Since we are all non-paid volunteers, 100% of the profit from the sale of our merchandise goes to increasing organ and tissue transplantation awareness. We thank our donors for the lives we can now live and we thank you for your patronage of our efforts.

The Government of Ontario created Trillium Gift of Life Network to help save and enhance lives by maximizing organ and tissue donations for transplantation.
United Network for Organ Sharing

Located in Richmond, Virginia, the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) is a non-profit, scientific and educational organization that administers the nation's only Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network  (OPTN), established by the U.S. Congress in 1984. Through the OPTN, we: collect and manage data about every transplant event occurring in the United States ,facilitate the organ matching and placement process using UNOS-developed data technology and the UNOS Organ Center and bring together medical professionals, transplant recipients and donor families to develop organ transplantation policy .

World Transplant Games Federation
Our purpose is to publicly and visibly demonstrate the benefits of successful organ transplant, working to increase public awareness of transplants and thereby increasing organ donation, as well as promoting the full rehabilitation and wellbeing of our participants. The World Transplant Games Federation has existed as a truly international organisation since its inception by transplant surgeon, Maurice Slapak in Portsmouth in 1978. Then, there were 4 countries and 99 participants. Now, in 2003, some 55 member countries have taken part in the Games in Nancy, France with 3000 people participating in some way or another. Present at the Opening Ceremony were 28,000 people.

Japan Donor Family Club
The Japan Donor Family Club (JDFC) was founded on September 1st, 2000, by a group of Japanese donor families. It is a club which works for the benefit of donor families and is operated by donor families themselves. They founded it to give support to donor families, share their grief over the loss of a loved one and make Japanese society aware of the presence and importance of donor families. The JDFC was also founded to safeguard the right to privacy of donors and their families.
The Donor Action Group
Since the international roll out in 1997, Donor Action has been implemented in more than 250 critical care units in 17 countries worldwide. Due to this interest in Donor Action the international Working Group recognised the need for a more solid structure that would ensure the expansion, appropriate implementation, and integrity of its donation initiative and allow for additional organisations to participate. In March 1998 the Donor Action Foundation was legally established as a non-profit entity. * Donor Action is an initiative of -: Eurotransplant International Foundation (The Netherlands), Organización Nacional de Trasplantes (Spain) and - the former Partnership for Organ Donation (U.S.).
