GIVING TRANSPLANT KIDS THE WINGS TO FLY... ALL THE WAY TO DUBBO
On Saturday 25th May, Transplant Australia and Gordon Rutty will fly 10 transplant kids to Dubbo Western Plains Zoo to experience the Ultimate Sleepover for Kids. Gordon, altruistic kidney donor and organ and tissue donation advocate, has generously donated his light aircraft to fly 10 kids who have all received the gift of life to Dubbo Zoo for a night spent under the stars. LIFE MEMBERSHIP

Transplant Australia is excited to award Jeff Sewell and Margaret Hill Life Memberships for their ongoing and outstanding contributions to Transplant Australia. Jeff is awarded Life Membership for his contributions to the growth and development of Transplant Australia's Australian Transplant Cricket Club, notably his outstanding efforts during his 9 year tenure as chairman of the ATCC. Margaret Hill is awarded Life Membership for her contribution to the NSW Branch of Transplant Australia and her commitment to organising multiple Australian Transplant Games events and World Transplant Games Teams. Both Margaret and Jeff are invaluable members of Transplant Australia and we are thankful for all of their efforts over the years.
TTS APPOINTS 2014-2016 PRESIDENT
Transplant Australia congratulates Dr Phillip O'Connell who has been elected as The Transplantation Society President. Dr O'Connell has previously sat as the President of the TSANZ. Congratulations and all the best in your new appointment Dr O'Connell!
DIANNE SCOTT IS RE-PRESENTED WITH ATG AND WTG MEDALS

Dianne Scott's Australian Transplant Games and World Transplant Games medals were stolen when her house was broken into six months ago. The medals were recently handed in to Campbelltown Police Station who sent the medals to the Transplant Australia National Office. Last week Chris Thomas and Professor Peter MacDonald re-presented Dianne Scott with her ATG and WTG medals at St Vincent's Hospital.
'MAX MOHR'S WISH' FILMLIFE PROJECT 2013

As part of the 2013 FilmLife Project Joshua Belinfante and Laurren Brannigan have created this short film on liver transplant recipient Max Mohr. Click here to watch Max's amazing journey of transplantation and see the way he has embraced his gift of life.
BROOKE HUUSKES WINS FILMLIFE 'BESTFILM' AWARD
Congratulations to Brooke Husskes who has been awarded 'Best Film' in the 2013 FilmLife Project, for her short film on organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Brooke received a kidney transplant herself, generously donated by her dad, inspiring her to promote the message of organ donation in this short film. The film, 'Somebody That I'll Never Know", a parody of the 2011 Gotye song can be Watched here. Congratulations Brooke!
GOVERNMENT PROGRAM ON LIVING DONORS WELCOMED
Transplant Australia has welcomed an announcement by the Federal Government for living donors to receive basic minimum wage as a way to ensure there are no financial disincentives to living donation. Living Donor Release
RECORD BREAKING DONATION RATES GIVING MORE AUSTRALIANS HOPE

New government statistics show that there has been a 30% increase in people receiving a transplant in the past 3 years. This translates to an additional 581 people receiving the gift of life over the past 3 years compared to transplant rates in 2009. Donation Rates Release

Transplant Australia’s Thank You rose is now available for delivery in Winter. Order now for delivery from late May through to late August. WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES 2013 NEWSLETTER

The World Transplant Games 2013 are being hosted in South Africa in the sunny city of Durban! Recipients who have received life saving organ transplants from more than 55 countries worldwide will compete in various sports in the hopes of winning Gold, Silver and bronze medals for their country. The Parliamentary Secretary for Health & Ageing, Catherine King, has announced changes to the Advisory Council of the Organ & Tissue Authority with Transplant Australia CEO Chris Thomas joining the Council alongside our Medical Director, Professor Jeremy Chapman. Read the release
