The 17th World Transplant Games will be staged on the Gold Coast, Queensland, from August 22-30, 2009, attracting up to 3,000 participants from more than 70 countries.
Following the death of David Hookes in 2004, the Australian Transplant Cricket Club (ATCC) established the David Hookes Memorial Shield in honour of this great Australian cricketer. The Shield is contested every two years between Australian and British transplant recipients. The next series is to be held in Perth, Bowral and Sydney in October 2008.
