New Member & Communications Manager joins the team

By Denise Hurley

Its with great excitement that I join the Transplant Australia Team as Member and Communications Manager. The move to Transplant Australia allows me to combine my genuine passion for helping people and promoting positive health messages.

Since graduating from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Health degree majoring in health promotion and health services management, I have worked in both the clinical and marketing sectors of the health care industry.

During my time in the clinical health administration sector I had the fortunate experience of supporting many patients on their path back to good health in my role as practice manager for an orthopaedic surgeon. I found it very rewarding to see our patients transform their lives from sadness and despair to hope and happiness.

However it was through my experience in healthcare advertising, working with the producers of one of Australias most highly regarded transplant medications that I have become aware of the complex situation we face with organ and tissue donation in this country and the important role Transplant Australia must play to create a climate of positive change.

Im looking forward to meeting as many members as possible, building better communications with you and improving the publics awareness of the wonderful benefits that result from organ and tissue donation.
