Transplant Australia CEO Chris Thomas had earlier met Senator McLucas and her senior staff for one hour on Friday, February 8, in which we were able to have a frank and robust discussion about the sector and what was needed to improve the system of donation.
"Senator McLucas has had a month or so to come up to speed on the issues but already she is showing a genuine commitment to helping lead the sector to a more cohesive and co-ordinated approach," Chris said.
"In our meeting I was able to reinforce the need for a consistent national communications strategy while also emphasising the need for the Government to implement all 51 recommendations in the Taskforce Report."
It was also an opportunity to share with the Senator the background to Transplant Australia and its role in increasing awareness and organ donor rates through the transplant games while also discussing our new Teamlife initiatives.
