"After a very rough and long flight over to LA, I finally arrived last Friday. After a quick tour of the One Legacy office on the Friday afternoon, I spent Saturday shopping in Beverley Hills and visiting Disneyland on Sunday. On Monday it was straight into work at the One Legacy Office, the staff are fantastic and provided a fabulous schedule for the week."
"I have visited UCLA Transplant Centre, CCU at Huntingtons hospital, met with many people involved in the transplantation process all with lots of knowledge and ideas to offer. I can even see the Hollywood sign from the office window!!"
"Cant wait to share my experience on my return - I am learning so much."
Until then Bye from USA!
Simone McMahon
I am learning so much on my travels.
Since my last email I have visited the Gift of Life Program in Philadelphia as well as the organ donor network in NY.
The set up in Philadelphia is nothing short of amazing!! They have a whole operating theatre set up in which to carry out organ retrievals from donors. I was able to attend in the operating room to observe the retrieval of a donor liver. They also have a call centre set up to follow potential organ donors in the hospitals.
I also met a great group of people in NY and everyone is so willing to share their knowledge.
Two more days here in the US and then its on to the UK.
